Manifestation for jailed Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak
Today, Tuesday 28th April a manifestation was held at the front of the Swedish parliament ( Mynttorget) from 11.00 to 14.00 local time. A container holding existing methods of the various tortures where Eritrean prisoners are kept and thrown in the hot deserts to die was placed in the manifestation. Inside the container were accounts of those who were in prison but later escaped and the different torture methods used in the prisons in Eritrea.
Speakers were journalists and parliamentarians from different political parties among them were Leif Öbrink, chairman of the Dawit Support Committee ( Free dawit), Lars Ohly, chairman of the Left Party, Göran Greider, chief editor for Dala Democrat, Agneta Lindholm Hulthen, Chairwoman Journalis Union, Anna Sermer, Manager in the TU ( News papers publisher) Ola Larsmo, chairwoman in Pen Club, Lise Berg, General secretary of Sweden Amnesty and many others.
All stressed that the regime in Eritrea must be pressured and put strict conditions to release Dawit and his colleagues from detention.
They urged the government of Sweden and the King to visit Eritrea and take the case of Dawit so that he will be free. Many from the Eritrean opposition political organizations have participated in the manifestation.
